New York 30's

New York 30's

John Mecray

Ref: PRI000108

In this classic racing situation Mecray has portrayed three New York Thirties, circa 1907, in a hotly contested race. #18 is fetching or laying the finish line on starboard tack. #16's only chance is to tack now and hope for a lift to the finish line. #16 may also be able to "lee bow" #18. If they engage in this manner #9 would benefit and gain a threatening position.

The course started at Cowes England, went down the English Channel, across the Irish Sea, roundeding Fastnet Rock off the southern coast of Ireland, then back to finish at Plymouth England. Of the more than 316 boats to start, only 128 finished.

Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather

John Mecray

Ref: PRI000081

Moving easily through a windswept sea under a dramatic sky, Stormy Weather is clearly in her element. The 54 foot yawl sails with her jib stowed, storm staysail set and a single reef in main and mizzen as the morning watch enjoys a beautiful dawn. Mecray has faithfully captured the look and feel of an early-morning sea. Clouds are breaking up to the southeast as a squall moves off to the north. The setting evokes the experience of an offshore passage for anyone who has spent time at sea—or only dreamed of it.

Moonbeam at the Fife Regatta

Moonbeam at the Fife Regatta

Steven Dews

Ref: PRI000117

Steven Dews's latest memorable limited edition celebrates the Fife Regatta, which was held on the Clyde in June 1998. The regatta was organised to bring some of the greatest yachts built by the famous Clyde yard of W Fife & Son back to their birthplace. The yard thrived from 1790 to 1965 and Moonbeam III was the fastest of the surviving Fife yachts to return for the celebrations. Designed by William Fife III and built in 1903, Moonbeam III was victorious in two of her races and is depicted here during the final event of the great regatta, The Kyles of Bute Race.
